Automate What Happens After a Submission
Add a workflow to a form so each submission can be checked against conditions, sent for approval, turned into a PDF or sent for signature.
AvailableWhere to find it: Form → workflow tab; Workflows (/app/workflows)
What this guide helps you do
Replace manual follow-up with consistent steps.
Who this applies to
Users who can edit the form.
Before you start
- Workflows apply to new submissions after you save; they do not rerun on older ones.
- Steps that depend on an integration still in validation will not deliver to that provider.
Steps
- Open the form and go to the workflow tab.
- Choose the trigger, for example When form is submitted.
- Add steps: a condition (for example a field equals, contains or is greater than a value), an approval request, PDF generation or a signature request.
- Save the workflow, then send a test submission and check its activity on the submission detail page.
What you should see
New submissions run through the steps in order; approvers can approve or reject, and later steps can start When approved or When rejected.
Troubleshooting
A step did not run.
Check the condition values against the submitted answers, and look at the submission’s workflow activity for the error.
